In reply to Corina. I have not tried the recipe without cheese so I'm not certain how it will work. The cheese acts as a binder and adds flavor. If I was trying it I would add extra egg for binder (or a flax egg) and some nutritional yeast for flavor. If you try it let us know how it turns out!
