Chipotle Fish Sliders with Sriracha Lime Slaw

Chipotle Fish Sliders with Sriracha Lime Slaw by Alison's AllspiceIf you like spicy food, you have got to try these chipotle fish sliders with sriracha lime slaw!  They have whole chipotle chilies blended into the fish patties, which is coated in corn tortilla chips.

The tortillas chips add nice texture, but better yet, they improve the flavor!  The subtle sweetness from the corn compliments the chipotle.  If you want to go an extra step with the sweet and spicy flavors, try sweet Hawaiian rolls! Continue reading

Quick Cilantro Garlic Seared Shrimp

Quick Cilantro Garlic Seared Shrimp by Alison's AllspiceYou know, I have really been on a cilantro kick recently!  I didn’t always like cilantro,  however.  I found it to be an incredibly over-powering flavor and never used it in my dishes.  It’s funny how tastes change, though.  I tried cilantro on this jalapeno tomato and cilantro pizza and couldn’t get enough.  I started trying it on other things, like cilantro lime black bean salad, and this weeks sweet potato salad.  Needless to say, I’m hooked!  This recipe, quick cilantro garlic seared shrimp is a weeknight favorite because shrimp cook in a flash! Five Spice Shrimp Tacos with Rhubarb Ginger Sauce

Five Spice Shrimp Tacos with Rhubarb Ginger Sauce by Alison's AllspiceHave you guys tried chinese 5-spice powder yet?  It’s been a popular up-and-coming spice for a while now, and I’m just now getting on board.  Chinese five-spice is a blend of Szechwan pepper, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, and fennel.  It has a wonderfully warming characteristic that pairs perfectly with other Asian flavors, such as ginger, and is not spicy.  My five spice shrimp tacos with rhubarb ginger sauce are an amazing twist between Asian and Mexican cuisines! Spicy Blackened Fish Tacos with Lime Crema

Spicy Blackened Fish Tacos with Lime Crema by Alison's AllspiceWhen I was a kid, one of my parents favorite meals was blackened salmon.  I always remembered that meal because the first time we tried it as a family, we didn’t realize how spicy the seasoning was going to be!!  It was so flavorful, but I remember downing glasses of milk try to keep my mouth from catching fire.  In subsequent trials, my parents learned the right amount of seasonings to use, and used it sparingly for us kids.   Today blackening seasoning is still a favorite of mine, so I decided to try it in one of my favorite foods, fish tacos.  These spicy blackened fish tacos with lime crema were a hit at my house! Grilled Clam Stuffed Mushrooms with Tomato Relish

Grilled Clam Stuffed Mushrooms with Tomato Relish by Alison's AllspiceI have a gigantic collection of cooking magazines that I have collected over the years.  I’m pretty serious about my collection as well.  My magazines are filed away according to the month published.  When ever I need some recipe inspiration, or want to do some light reading I go find this months file.  I tab all my favorite ideas so they are easy to find, but sometimes I will reread the magazine and see how my tastes have changed since I first tabbed it.  Recently I did this and came across a stuffed mushroom recipe with a red pepper relish.  I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t tabbed that recipe! I instantly wrote up my own variation and dubbed it worthy of a grill out night.  And thus, grilled clam stuffed mushrooms with tomato relish was born.  Continue reading
